listen to mori

Indie folk singer-songwriter, Mori is making a sizable dent in the DIY music scene as a lyric-forward musician aiming to highlight authentic experience through imaginative, honest, and evocative lyrics. In her own words, "I write because if I didn't, I'd be constantly mourning explanations I didn't get to give, and apologies I didn't get to hear".

Inspired by the likes of Alec Duckart, Leith Ross, Jensen McRae, Isabel Pless, Lizzy McAlpine, and Cinya Khan; Mori’s music centers lyricism. At times verbose, but always intentional, the emphasis is clearly placed on what she’s saying. At the same time, her melodic choices and sonic phrasing, support the meaning just as well, and make for songs that are lyrically meaty, yet easy on the ears. An effortless blend of the independent acoustic sound, with pop roots, folk elements, and a raw, emotive vocal.

Boston transplant by way of Buenos Aires, her obsession with writing came naturally as she found herself engulfed in the English language she was learning. It quickly intersected with her love for music, which she surrounded herself with to bridge the gap in communication between herself and the culture she was acclimating to.
